The 1812 Officers


The 1812 officers for our chapter will be serving office until June of 2012 when new officers will be elected for a three year term of office. The officers are:

               Helen Taylor, Vice President and Chaplain
               Carol Canales, Secretary
               Nancy Glielmi, Treasurer
               Cheri Lamber, Historian
               Bonnie Becmer, Registrar

1812 Meeting Held on October 1, 2011


The 1812 monthly meeting will be held at St. James Plantation at the Reserve Golf Club on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00. There will be a luncheon to follow. The program will be on 1812 Saltpeter Mining with Nora Hickam as the speaker. Please e-mail Phyllis Wilson at golfwilson@ec.rr.com to let her know if you will be attending. Let her know who the driver of the car will be if you are carpooling. She will leave that name at the gate when you stop to get your pass.

The Reserve Golf Club at St. James Plantation

·        St. James Plantation is located on Route 211 in Southport. Turn into the main entrance at St. James. Stop at the gate to get a pass for the day.
·         Stay on St. James Drive and make your first right turn onto Ridge Crest Drive. Drive at 30 mph for about 5 minutes.
·         Make a left turn at the end of Ridge Crest Drive onto Wyndmere Drive. The speed limit changes to 25 mph.
·         Stay on Wyndmere and turn into the parking lot. You can park anywhere you want.
The Reserve Club House is on the left. Just walk inside and you will see the room on the left, which is The Library.


National Headquarters of 1812


The National Headquarters National Society Unites States Daughters of 1812 is located in Washington D.C. This property has been placed on the National Register of historic places by the United States Department of the Interior in 1987. It was dedicated on April 7, 2002.
The 1812 Society purchased the Queen Anne style home in 1928. It was built in 1884 by Rear Admiral John H. Upshur.  Dedicated members of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812 have donated historic artifacts, books for the library and other memorabilia. They have also the last seventy-five years collecting items of furniture to enhance the Queen Anne period furniture.
Commissioner Charles Gause No. 433 Chapter of US Daughters of 1812 have helped decorated the North Carolina room in the Queen Anne style.

National Society United States Daughters of 1812 National Headquarters in Washington, DC -

The NC Room at National Headquaters is located on the third floor of the house at 1463 Rhode Islnd Avenue. This building is now the National Library and the Museum. The North Carolina Room is a lovely bedroom with twin beds. The information and photographs were provided by Gwen Causey, Honorary Vice President National from NC - August 6, 2011.
