Daughters of 1812,
Member Doris Thompson, of the Snap Dragon Chapter, passed away on January 14, 2018. We remember Doris, not only for her longevity in life, but her long and active participation as a member of 1812. She was the state president from 1994-1996 and earned the title of Honorary State President.
Below is the obituary. Though not mentioned, Gwen Causey is a niece of Doris.

Mrs. Doris Catherine Lancaster Thompson of Wilmington, NC passed Sunday evening, January 14, 2018. Mrs. Thompson was born in Brunswick County, NC on December 26, 1925 and was the youngest daughter of the late Berlyn Sellers Lancaster and the late John Newman Lancaster, Sr. of Supply, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Earl Thompson. She is survived by her three children, Wayne Earl Thompson, Sr. of Burgaw, NC.; Sue Thompson Schwartz of Pittsboro, NC.; George Kurt Thompson, Sr. (Sue Wilkinson); her sister Betty Lancaster Jones of Wilmington, NC.; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was a member of First Baptist Church of Wilmington, NC. She was an avid Genealogist and was a member of the following organizations: Honorary State Regent (1991-1994) North Carolina Society Daughters of the American Revolution; Honorary State President (2006-2009) North Carolina Society Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America; Honorary State President (1994-1996) United States Daughters of War of 1812; Colonial Dames XVII Century; United Daughters of Confederacy; Daughters of Colonial Wars; Daughters of American Colonists; Eastern Star.

Funeral services originally scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2018, have been rescheduled for Saturday January 20, 2018 at two o'clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel, 603 Ocean Highway, Bolivia. Entombment will follow in the Oleander Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Wilmington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
