Carol Jutte presenting CDT LT Dulce Melchor a Junior at North Brunswick High School with the award from the Commissioner Charles Gause Chapter, 1812. Dulce was also accepting an award for Senior CDT LT Carina Bersamina.

Carol Jutte reported on the JROTC awards ceremonies.  Carol attended three Brunswick County Schools, North, South and West and presented 6 awards to JROTC cadets.  The JROTC instructors were very appreciative for the awards our Chapter presented.  Col. Steven Baker at North in Leland was especially grateful for the certificates and medals stating that it was an incentive for the other cadets to work a little harder hoping to achieve this recognition and earn a medal to wear in the future.  The instructor at South, Col. Thomas Blue will be retiring at the end of the year 2018.  We will miss working with him.
Awards were presented as follows:
April 19, 2018 at South – Ana Botello,SR. and Hailey Figley, JR.
April 23, 2018 at North – CDT LT Carina Bersamin, SR. and CDT LT Dulce Melchor,JR
May 14, 2018 at West – CDT 1SG Tatiyana Cumberbatch,SR. and CDT CPT Rosie Marley,JR.
All Seniors received a certificate and $50.00 while Juniors received a certificate and a medal.
Susan DeGroote will be attending SGT. Eugene Ashley HS honors night rescheduled for the fall due to the large number of awards to be given in the spring.  Martha Blacher made the awards presentation for   Susan who was unable to attend the John T. Hoggard HS JROTC honors night aboard the USS North Carolina Battleship.
