The 1812 meeting was held on June 7, 2014 at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Winnabow, NC. Nora Hickam, former National 1812 registrar swore the new members in to take office until June of 2016. Betsy Hammer is the new president; Linda Rivenbark, secretary, Betsy Pessetto, treasurer, Joan Hall, historian. Missing from picture are;Pat Gooding, chaplain; Dianne Price, vice-president and Cynthia Sellers, Registrar.
Lisa English, the guest speaker for the 1812 June meeting gave a hands on flag making workshop on folding fabric that Bonnie Becmer most generously donated for this project, so that everyone had the opportunity to make several of these flags. The little flag is put in a tiny plastic bag with a poem.
A flag for your pocket so you can always carry a little piece of home. We are praying for you and we are proud of you. Thank you for defending our country and our freedom.
Any organization can dontact Lisa to see if she could present a flag folding session or she also does a wonderful Prisoner of War presentation. If you go back to the October blog entry you will see photographs of that workshop that Lisa presented for the 1812 fall meeting.
