| Lisa English |
The 1812 meeting is scheduled for June 7, 2014 at the New
Hope Presbyterian Church 800 Cherrytree Road, NE in Winnabow, NC which is
south on Route 17. The meeting will start at 10:00. Lisa English, a member of the Rockfish DAR Chapter
will be our guest speaker. She will demonstrate and the members will make tiny
pocket flags that will fit in a small plastic envelope. Lisa was a guest
speaker at our October meeting and we were so impressed with her ability and

COLONIAL POUND CAKE
OVEN 325 DEGREES
MIX 2 CUPS SUGAR AND ONE CUP OF SOFTENED BUTTER (I use butter but can alter with oleo) UNTIL FLUFFY. ADD 4 EGGS-ONE AT A TIME, MIXING WELL. ADD ONE TEASPOON OF VANILLA AND ONE TEASPOON OF ORANGE OR LEMON EXTRACT; ADD ONE CUP OF ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR; ADD ONE-HALF CUP MILK; ADD ANOTHER CUP OF FLOUR, MIXING WELL, BUT DO NOT BEAT HARD; THEN ADD ANOTHER HALF CUP OF MILK; MIX ONE CUP OF FLOUR AND 2 TEASPOONS OF BAKING POWDER THEN ADD TO MIXTURE. LIGHTLY BEAT UNTIL ALL FLOUR DISAPPEARS;
SPRAY PAM LIGHTLY ON 2 LOAF PANS AND LIGHTLY FLOUR; POUR CAKE MIXTURE INTO THESE TWO PANS AND BAKE FOR ONE HOUR OR UNTIL BAKED. LEAVE IN PANS FOR 15 MINUTES THEN REMOVE.

February 1812 Meeting at the Historic Home of Maytu Whittaker
Carole Canales is holding a small flag that is kept in a tiny plastic bag.
These flags are made to give them to soldiers that are fighting in Afghanistan.
Here is the significance of the flag:
A flag for your pocket so you can always carry a little piece of home.
We are praying for you and "we are proud of you." Thank you for
defending our country and our freedom.
Our 1812 group is planning to meet in June to make flags so that we too can give
them to soldiers that we might meet in airports or bus terminals.
